In the picture, you see what looks like a covered bridge that could represent the Oregon Trail, the Mormon Trail, the Overland Trail, the Lincoln Highway, or Interstate 80—take your pick.
It’s called the Archway, and it stretches across the busiest interstate in Nebraska at Kearney (named after someone named Kearny…but that’s another story).
I had the opportunity to tell America’s Story to a crowd of Thrivent customers and guests, but I also got to hear some stories.
I talked to a woman who had a wall of trophies from her Toastmasters and pageant experience. (“Your presentation was excellent,” she said. I considered it high praise, considering her collection.)
I met a couple from Worms, Nebraska, who told me the town wasn’t named after fish bait, but after a town in Germany. (Worms? Werms? Wurms?)
Then I talked to many, many people who drove quite a distance to hear Libby and me. Because they love America, and they love to hear people talk about America.
Turns out, traveling across the country telling America’s Story is everything I’ve hoped for.
I get to encourage Americans.
And I get to hear stories.
It’s a pretty good deal all the way around.
Thank you, Thrivent!
And thank you, donors!
P.S. If you want to hear the story, DM me, and I can check my schedule…
