If summer is slipping away, perhaps you have twelve minutes to watch it rain with me.
Together, we’ll sit beneath the old barn lean-to and listen to the rain, the songbirds, and the long, slow roll of summer thunder.
Twelve minutes before we’re called back to the world.
And when it’s over, maybe some of the dust of daily to-do lists and petty worries will have washed away, and you’ll feel as refreshed as I did.
Maybe you could even save it as a screensaver.
This morning, when the rain started, I grabbed a deck chair and my cup of coffee and headed out to the barn.
The barn has mostly collapsed in on itself now, but the old tin-roofed lean-to is still there.
Parts of the barn have been recycled and now live on as part of my storage shed.
The rest of it lives mostly in memory, along with my father-in-law, Rod.
