An Interesting Question

by | Aug 14, 2026 | I Like That Story

“Would you ever consider contacting a friend you haven’t talked to in over 20 years?”

My friend Randy McCoy asked me that question. As luck would have it, I had just tried that very thing earlier in the day. But in truth, before then, I don’t know when the last time was that I did something like that.
I will say that one of the most overlooked reasons to move—or not to move—has nothing to do with climate, prosperity, or cost of living.

It has to do with friends and your social network.

Having regular contact with a circle of strong friends—and having the willingness to simply say hi to strangers in the town where you live—may be among the most important factors in living a healthy life.

Perhaps even more important than diet, exercise, smoking, drinking, or other lifestyle habits.

Thank you, Randy, for improving my quality of life—and possibly even extending it!
